Workshop on RF Heating Technology of Fusion Plasmas 2013

US-EU-JPN RF Heating Technology Workshop: September 9 (Mon) -11 (Wed), 2013

We are cordially inviting you to attend the US-EU-JPN workshop on RF heating technology which will be held at the Hotel Löwengarten, Speyer, Germany.

US-EU-JPN workshops on RF heating technology have a long history. They have been contributing to promote RF heating in fusion research through stimulated discussions and resulting collaborations. In the past researchers from US, Europe and Japan institutions have participated in the meetings. We would like to extend the invitation to members from the ITER Organization to participate and to give presentations.

In 2013 the workshop will be organised by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute for Pulsed Power and Microwave Technology (IHM) and the Institute for Applied Materials (IAM).

Speyer (formerly known as Spires in English) is a city of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany with approximately 50,000 inhabitants. Located beside the river Rhine, Speyer is 25 km south of Ludwigshafen and Mannheim. Founded by the Romans, it is one of Germany's oldest cities. The first known names were Noviomagus and Civitas Nemetum, after the Teutonic tribe, Nemetes, settled in the area. Around the year 500 the name Spira first appeared in written documents. Spire, Spira, and Espira are still names used for Speyer in the French, Italian, and Spanish languages. Speyer is dominated by the Speyer Cathedral, a number of churches and the Altportal (old gate). In the cathedral, beneath the high altar, are the tombs of eight Holy Roman emperors and German kings. It is the world's largest surviving Romanesque church and since 1981 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
